The next Kwanzaa Park Neighbors meeting will occur on Thursday September 7, 2017 at 6:00 PM. Featured speaker, Ron Tijerina from the Ridge Project will discuss TYRO. TYRO is a program created from the firsthand experiences of the Tijerina family with welfare and incarceration systems.
TYRO has three components: Dads, Couple Communication, and TYRO JET. The courses can equip men with the life skills they need to be responsible fathers, better communicators, reliable employees, and positive role models.
The community is welcome to attend and enjoy conversation and complimentary refreshments. Monthly meetings occur at the Padua Center at 1416 Nebraska Avenue, which offers a ramp for easy access for those in need and ample parking off Junction Street.
The Kwanzaa Park Neighborhood borders Dorr, Hawley, Brown and Campbell Streets, but all interested persons are welcome to attend meetings.
The Kwanzaa Park Neighbors also meet with the block watch chairperson and the community police to discuss issues in the neighborhood.
