Padua Center announces Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson named as Mayor of Padua Peace Village. Mayor Paula Hick-Hudson will visit Padua Center on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 12:00 PM to tour the Peace Village constructed by Padua Center campers during their “Vote for Peace” week.
The students used recycled materials to construct a Peace Village including a school, hospital, some stores and traffic signs and a Mediation Center. There is no jail or courthouse because the students are learning how to mediate problems and to avoid violence.
On Friday, the campers will hold a parade through Ujima Park and Garden and display signs indicating peace. The Buffalo Soldiers and Toledo Police Community Service Officers will introduce the campers to safe and peaceful ways to celebrate the 4th of July.
